Know Your Rights

After reading Know Your Rights: Photographers I was very surprised at how much I didn’t know. Photographers have more rights than I imagined. I was under the impression you really shouldn’t photograph anyone without permission.
In the article it states that you can take pictures anywhere that is public and of anything you can see publicly. I’ve really avoided taking pictures of people I don’t know especially when in a public place because I didn’t want to take the risk. Although I have taken a few and have never been stopped. I usually try to be inconspicuous if taking a picture of people I don’t know. I also thought if you were taking a picture of a police officer and they demanded you to delete the photos you would have to, but the article states you are within your rights under the first amendment. If you are detained for another reason your camera can be confiscated, but they cannot under any circumstance delete your pictures. They can be used as evidence in a crime.
